This program focuses on tea culture in 19th-century Russia, using the Tula province as an example. One of Tula's main symbols is its samovar industry. By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the city boasted approximately 50 samovar-making enterprises.
Guests will visit the Samovar Museum, see the many different forms and styles of this water-heating device, hear stories about the tea ceremony traditions of the time, learn how the samovar became one of the city's symbols and how people socialized over a cup of tea.
A wonderful continuation of the tour is a workshop on making Tula gingerbread, another symbol of the city, at the Museum of Impressions. Guests will mold their own gingerbread and also participate in a tea party where, in addition to Tula gingerbread, they will taste other famous sweets of our region.
